Alfred and Iris Chesley, of Panama City, Fla., passed away at their home Thursday, July 15, 2010.

Both were members of Good Shepherd Lutheran Church. They moved to this area in 1976 after a tour of duty with the U.S. Air Force in the Philippines.

Alfred served in the U.S. Air Force for 28 years as a recruiter, a financial management superintendent and a financial management supervisor. He received many honors, including the Meritorious Service Medal, Air Force Commendation Medal, Air Force Good Conduct Medal, Small Arms Expert Rifle Ribbon, NCO Professional Military Education Ribbon and the Air Force Longevity Service Award Ribbon.

He is survived by one daughter, Carol Bruckmann and husband, Hans, of Ohio; son, John Chesley and wife, Renee, of Ohio; brother: Ronald Chesley and wife, Marion, of Union City, Pa.; five grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; and two nieces.

Iris served in the U.S. Air Force for 22 years as an Administrative Tech, Administrative Superintendent and Administrative Supervisor. She received the Meritorius Service Medal, Air Force Outstanding Unit Award, Air Force Organizational Excellence Award, Air Force Good Conduct Medal and National Defense Service Medal during her years of duty.

She is survived by one sister, Zaida Rascon and husband, Miguel; mother, Irma Serrano; niece, Erika Rascon, all of Panama City Beach, Fla.; stepdaughter, Carol Bruckmann and husband, Hans, of Ohio; and stepson: John Chesley and wife, Renee, of Ohio.

A funeral and memorial service for Alfred and Iris will be at 4 p.m. Monday, July 26, 2010, at Good Shepherd Lutheran Church, with the Rev. Randal Ehrichs officiating. Memorialization is by cremation. The families will receive friends from 2 to 4 p.m. Sunday, July 25, 2010, at Heritage Funeral Home.
