Christopher & Maria {Johnson} was married on June 12,1839, in Darien, Wisconsin.

Christopher and Elijah Belding were the first settlers of Darien, Walworth County, Wisconsin April, 1837; sections 15 and 10 respectively . Christopher came from Otsego County, New York. Christopher was the first person to die in Darien and was the Postmaster at the time of his death.

Most Of The Headstone Are Broken, So They Put Name Plate's On Wooded Fence Around The Outer Part Of The Cemetery


Old Settlers' Cemetery, Walworth County, Wisconsin

Old Settlers', is one of the oldest burial grounds in Wisconsin. With approximately
117 citzens who died in the Delavan, Wisconsin area between 1837 -1869. Old Settlers' is
located in Delavan, Wisconsin on the north side of McDowell St. between Third Street and
Fourth Street. Periodic vandalism has plagued the cemetery since the Civil War. Many
headstones have been knocked down and even destroyed. All records were destroyed in an
1893 fire.
