Death has been very busy for the past day among the old citizens of Joliet, taking two of the very oldest citizens, and first pioneers of the city.
The first to pass to her reward in Heaven was Mrs. Jane Adams, aged seventy-six years. She was the widow of Dr. R.E.W. Adams, one of Joliets first Doctors.
Mrs. Adams had not been in good health for some time but had been able to be out. She was found dead in bed, in her rooms on South Bluff Street, Thursday morning. Funeral this fornoon at 10 o'clock.
Mrs. Adams came to Joliet in the fall of 1835, with one child who now resides in Joliet, Benj. F. Adams. Dr. Adams was for many years a prominent physician in Joliet. He was a brother of the late Micajah L. Adams. Mrs. Jane Adams also bore to the Doctor two other sons, John Q. Adams of Colorado and James B. of California, and a daughter, Eugenia, now Mrs. Jackson, of Minneapolis, Minn.
