Clifford Don Chebahtah Jr.
ANADARKO Memorial service for Clifford Don Chebahtah Jr. will be at 10 a.m. Monday at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints, Anadarko, with President Joe Bailey officiating.

Mr. Chebahtah Jr. died Monday, Dec. 21, 2009, in Anadarko.

Burial with military honors will be at 1 p.m. Monday at Fort Sill National Cemetery, Elgin, under direction of Comanche Funeral Home.

He was born Dec. 16, 1942, in Lawton, to Clifford and Betty Ann Lawrence Chebahtah. He was a direct descendent of Chief Wild Horse, a grand-nephew of Quanah Parker and a direct descendent of "Chebahtah" aka, "Chevato, 'Billy' Chevat," a renowned medicine man. He was a member of the Comanche Nation and descendent of the Lipan Apache, Delaware and Métis Nations. He was also a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints. He served in the Marine Corps from 1960 to 1968 and USMCR from 1969 to 1981 attaining the rank of gunnery sergeant. His awards include the Gold USMC Parachutist Badge, Basic Parachutist Badge, USMC Rifle Expert Badge, Purple Heart, Presidential Unit Citation, Navy Unit Citation, Combat Action Ribbon, USMC Good Conduct Medal with 1 Oak Leaf Cluster, Armed Forces Expeditionary Medal, Viet Nam Service Medal w 2 Battle Stars, and Viet Nam Campaign. His hobbies included cross country coaching for the youth and football coach for Riverside junior tackle league.

Survivors include his wife, Sandra, of the home; four sons and daughters-in-law: Christopher and Michelle Chebahtah, California City, Calif.; Jeffrey and Heidi Chebahtah, Riverside, Calif.; David and Cassandra Chebahtah, Williamsburg, Va.; and Patrick and Elizabeth Chebahtah, Edinburgh, Scotland; eight grandchildren: Justin, Sara, Jacob, Jennifer, Russell, Kylie, Adam and James Chebahtah; three sisters: Neenah and Ruth Chebahtah, both of Anadarko; and Ramona Alamanza, Indiahoma; two uncles: Raymond Alamanza, Indiahoma; and William "Bill" Chebahtah, San Antonio.

He was preceded in death by his parents; sisters: Carol Chebahtah, Donna Chebahtah and Sharon Smith; and a niece, Sarah Smith.
