David Ray Chavis, 49, of Suffolk, VA passed away January 16, 2010. He worked as a Bail Bondsman and attended the Church of God.
David is survived by his mother, Ellen Chavis Gay; father, Nathaniel Chavis, Sr.; daughter, Celina Michelle Smith and friend Ron Lamb of FL; sons and daughters-in-law, Ryan and Tracey Chavis of Carrsville, VA, Justin Chavis of TX, Jason and Brittany Chavis of Yorktown, VA; grandchildren, Rylan Lamb and Alexia Warren; sisters and brothers-in-law, Carolyn J. and Wayne Evans, Karen F. and James Whitley, all of Suffolk; brothers and sisters-in-law, Bobby and Jettie Chavis, Larry and Cindy Chavis, Nat "Pee Wee" and Lori Chavis, Harry "Jabo" and Debbie Chavis, all of Suffolk, Don and Tina Chavis of Ft. Smith, AR; Keith and Kandi Chavis of Toccoa, GA; and numerous nieces and nephews.

A funeral service will be held Wednesday, January 20, 2010 at 2 p.m. at Parr Funeral Home & Crematory, 3515 Robs Dr., Suffolk, VA with Rev. James Hughes officiating. Burial will follow at Holly Lawn Cemetery. Friends may join the family Tuesday night from 6-8 p.m. at the funeral home and other times at the residence of his mother, Ellen Chavis Gay. Memorial donations may be made to the Church of God at 205 Kilby Ave. Suffolk, VA 23434 or LifeNet at 1864 Concert Dr., Virginia Beach, VA 23453.

David died as a result of injuries sustained in a non fault auto accident.
