Brad M. Chase Jr., 73, of Springfield died at 9:40 p.m. Tuesday at Memorial Medical Center.
He was born Aug. 14, 1920, in Harrisburg, the son of Brad M. Sr. and Hazel Sheperd Chase. He married Alice E. Huber in 1942. Mr. Chase served four years as a B-24 pilot and squadron commander in the India-Burma-China Theater during World War II. He retired from the Air Force Reserves as a lieutenant colonel in 1962. Mr. Chase was employed by Illinois Bell Telephone Co. for 36 years, retiring in 1982 from the engineering department. He was a member of the Laurel United Methodist Church and Telephone Pioneers of America.
Surviving are his wife, Alice; three daughters, Betty Trzaskus of Michigan City, Ind., Pam Birckhead of Columbia and Barbara Maddin of Springfield; eight grandchildren; and a brother, James E. Chase of Elgin.
Services at Bisch and Son Funeral Home, the Rev. John Hamilton officiating. Burial in Camp Butler National Cemetery.
