Born: 2 January, 1844 in Groton, Caledonia County, Vermont - the third child of nine to Jeremiah Chase and Margaret Fiske Chase
He served in Co. E, 60th Regiment of the New York Volunteers.
He died from wounds incurred in the battle of Chancellorsville, Virginia. A memorial marker is also found in the family plot in the Fairview Cemetery, Dickinson Center, Franklin County, New York.
