Carrie May was born on May 5, 1869 in Ironton, OH. Her parents were John & Phebe (Matthews) Charlton. Her parents were born in England.
She was first married to John Alexander and had a son J Charlton Alexander who was born in 1892.
She then married Charles Harrison Bernhard on Aug. 23, 1900 in Cleveland. They were married by Rev. R. H. Edwards. They were both 31 and never had any children.
They appeared in the 1910 Cleveland census living on Sunset Dr. with her son Charlton.
Carried & Paul had been married 17 years when she died at the early age of 47 on Jan. 4, 1917 at home 17833 Canterbury Rd., Cleveland.

CARRIE C. BERNHARD, beloved wife of Charles H. Bernhard and mother of J. Charlton Alexander, Thursday at 2 pm. Funeral Saturday at 2 pm at late residence, 17833 Canterbury Rd. Burial private.

Informant husband Charles of same address. Listed she was born in Ohio on May 5, 1869; father John Charlton; mother Phebe Matthews, both born in England.
