Isidore "Isit" Kevin Charley, 46, died April 27, 2009, at St. Charles Medical Center in Bend, with his wife and daughter by his side.
Mr. Charley was born Dec. 26, 1962, to parents Alvin Charley and Ina Culpus Charley Tohet.
His happiest times were in his youth, while growing up in Celilo and learning from his grandmother. He loved to fish, hunt, ride horses, travel, meet new people, and work with youths. He also enjoyed doing crossword puzzles and playing electronic games. He always had a smile on his face and music in his heart.
Mr. Charley worked as a Hot Shot crew member, then in later years, as a fire management crew boss. In his youth, he traveled to many places, as he had skills to be a baseball star with a major league. Other work became a priority, so the baseball career did not work out.
A granddaughter noted, "God blessed Faye and her children by loaning Isit to her and her family for six years of happiness. During that time they were loving, caring, sharing and the best of friends. There are many happy memories that will carry his family through their loss."
Survivors include, his wife, Faye Charley of Warm Springs; his granddaugter, Fawntana; stepchildren, WinnerJoe, Tasheena, Danielle and Chandla, all of Warm Springs, Vanessa Orange of McMinnville, and Virgil Jr. of Iowa; brothers, Bruce Jim, Olin Charley, Ian Tohet, Earl Charley, and Doctor Shawn (Byron Frank), all of Warm Springs; sisters, Melinda Jim, Minnie Charley, and Barbara Charley Poncho, all of Warm Springs, Sally Medina and Rachel Charley, both of Portland; and numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, uncles, aunts and friends.
He was preceded in death by his father, Alvin Charley; mother, Ina Tohet; and sister, Joanne Casey.
He was buried at the Simnasho Cemetery on May 1.
