LEOMINSTER -- Adelard F. "Del" Charette, 85, of Leominster, MA, died Friday evening, January 29, 2010, at home, after an illness. He was born July 16, 1924 in Leominster, MA, the son of the late Oliver Charette and Aglore (Gariepy) Charette, and was a lifelong resident. He leaves three sons, Roger "Skip" Charette and his wife, Sandra of Nebraska, Dennis Charette and his wife, Fay of Leominster, and Kevin Charette of Leominster; his longtime companion, Virginia Cote; a sister, Doris Rancourt of Auburndale, Florida; 10 grand-children; and 19 great-grandchildren; many nephews and nieces. He was predeceased by his wife, Lorraine C. (Roger) Charette whom died March 26, 1992, and by four sisters, Pauline, Doralice, Cecile and Beatrice, and seven brothers, Camille, Raymond, Raoul, Leo, Emile, Armand and Lucien. Mr. Charette owned and operated Charette and Rogers Inc. in Leominster for over (45) Years. He was a member of St. Cecilia's Church where he also served as a Eucharistic Minister, International Veterans Chorus, Leominster Lodge of ELKS, Leominster Seniors Center, Franco American Veterans Post #13, and the former St Jean Club. The Leominster Knights of Columbus. He enjoyed traveling and spending time with his family. He was a US Navy Veteran of World War II, and the Korean Conflict, serving as an Aircraft Engine Mechanic. The funeral will be held on Wednesday February 3, 2010 from Simard Funeral Home, 14 Walker St., Leominster with a 10 am Mass of Christian Burial in St. Cecilia's Church, 180 Mechanic St., Leominster, MA. Burial with Military Honors will follow in St. Cecilia's Cemetery Leominster.
