IVAN COMMUNITY, LA - J.B. Chappell, lifetime resident of the Ivan Community was born on September 29, 1919, went to be with the Lord On June 8, 2008 at Cypress Point Nursing Home after a battle with Alzheimer. Visitation will be Pilgrim Home Baptist Church in Ivan on Friday, June 13, 2008, 6:00 to 8:00 PM. Services will be at the church on Saturday, June 14, at 10:00 AM with the Rev. Bill Lott officiating. Burial will be at the Rocky Mount Cemetery.
Survivors are his wife of 61 years, Maxine West Chappell, children, Ricky and wife, Phyllis of Damon, TX, Jean Cooper and husband, Daryl of Shreveport, Randy and wife, Carol of Knoxville, TN and Anita Williams and husband, Kirk of Manvel, TX; grandchildren Sean and Rebecca Chappell, Nathaniel and Emily Chappell and Meredith and Trey Williams. Honorary grandchildren are Jessica Wallis and husband, Tommy and Aaron Jorden and wife, Brandy of Ivan and many nephews and nieces.
Retiring from Marathon Oil Company in 1985 after 31 years of service, Dad could have been found enjoying working in his rose garden, mowing the yard and just out messing around at the barn. After Dad's health slowed him down, you could find him on the front porch watching the traffic go by.
Pallbearers will be Macky Young, George Horst, G.M. Coker, Tommy Jones, Fred Hagan and Danen Hicks.
Honorary pallbearers will be Dalton Johnston, Bill Breeland and J.C. Johnson.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorials be made to Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation, 2008 Airline Drive, Suite 300 PMB 288, Bossier City, LA 71111 or your choice.
