Ima R. (Damewood) Chapman, 63, Kokomo, went to be with the Lord at 3:45 p.m. Monday, June 24, 2013, at her home. She was born Aug. 6, 1949, in Elwood to Lester and Alma (Slaughter) Damewood. On Oct. 28, 1966, Ima married Dennis R. Chapman Sr., and he survives.

She was a member of Lighthouse Missionary Baptist Church. She was a homemaker and also worked as a nurse's aide at Community Howard Regional Health and also St. Joseph Hospital for several years.

Surviving are her son, Dennis (Natalie) Chapman Jr., and two stepchildren, Danny Chapman and Tammy Wade; seven grandchildren and three great-grandchildren; three sisters, Clara Banks, Patty (Ernie) Fouch, and Brenda (Mike) Downham, all of Kokomo; and many nieces and nephews.

Preceeding her in death were three sisters, Sue Culbertson Corbit, Joann Rosa and Charolette Porter; two brothers, Ronnie Damewood and Terry Damewood.

Visitation will be from 10 a.m. to noon Thursday at Ellers Mortuary, 3400 S. Webster St. Services will follow at noon, also at the mortuary, with the Rev. Paul Hewitt officiating. Burial will be at Albright Cemetery, Kokomo.
