Funeral services for Mrs. Fannie Caldwell were held Monday afternoon at the Methodist church in Blue Hill with the pastor, Rev. C.E. Ruch in charge. A group composed of Misses Mona Brewster, Ellen Karsting, Shirley Meyer and Mary Ann Vogelpohl sang "Going Down the Valley", "In the Garden" and "Saved by Grace". They were accompanied by Mrs. Byron Vaughn. Pallbearers were William Brewster, B.H. Waterbury, George Corner, Jess Ziegler, Theron Fish and O.H. Martin. Burial was in the Blue Hill Cemetery.

Fannie Margaret Chaplin, daughter of Jacob and Nancy Chaplin was born in McDonna County, Illinois, April 14, 1862. She departed this life on Friday evening, May 26, 1950, at the age of 88 years, 1 month and 12 days.

She was united in marriage to Thomas Jefferson Chaffin in Iowa in 1880. They came to Webster county in 1885 where she had lived since. Mr. Chaffin passed away in Blue Hill, January 7, 1919.

On May 11, 1932, she was married to W.R. Caldwell who passed away January 2, 1933.

Mrs. Caldwell had been in failing health for over a year. She is survived by three sons and two daughters, C.C. Chaffin of Jamul, California; Harry L. Chaffin of Sinclair, Wyoming; F.L. Chaffin of Effingham, Kansas; Mrs. Jennie Stabenow of Blue Hill, and Mrs. Myrel Abbey of Hastings. She is also survived by 12 grandchildren 19 great grandchildren; two half-brothers and one half-sister, Marion Chaplin of Wymore, Nebr., Ray Chaplin of Denver, Colorado, and Mrs. Sybil Henry of Independence, Oregon. Her only brother, Harry Chaplin passed away last April 24 at Tacoma, Washington.

Mrs. Caldwell had been an active member of the Methodist church and Woman's Society of Christian Service until her illness. She was also a member of the Royal Neighbors Lodge for more than 25 years.

Out of town relatives and friends attending the funeral were Mrs. Ann Ross, William Stabenow and Elroy Polfuss of Sioux Falls, South Dakota; Mrs. Sophia Chaplin of Huron, SD; H.L. Chaffin of Sinclair, Wyoming; Mr. and Mrs. F.L. Chifon, Mr. and Mrs. Jack Spradley of Effingham, Kansas; Ray Chaplin, Mrs. Lucille Ryzman and Mrs. Lorena Hudson of Denver; Mr. and Mrs. Lyle Stabenow of Yuma, Colorado; Mr. and Mrs. A.H. Hughes of St. Paul, Minnesota; Mr. and Mrs. O.L. Babcock of Fairbury; Mr. and Mrs. Harvey Farnham, Mr. and Mrs. Lynn Pitney, Mr. and Mrs. Claude Kaminsky of Inavale; Mrs. Bertha Thompson of Guide Rock; Mr. and Mrs. Bernard Chaplin of Cowles; Mrs. Ben Miester, Mrs. Sherman Young and Mrs. Ralph Brown of Hastings.
