Albert Ben Chaney, 92, of Harrison, died Friday, Aug. 31 (2007) at North Arkansas Regional Medical Center in Harrison.
Funeral service will be at 10 a.m. Tuesday, Sept. 4, at Christeson Funeral Home with Jimmy Smith officiating. Visitation will be from 7 to 8 p.m. Monday, Sept. 3, at the funeral home.
Burial will be at Summers Cemetery. Pallbearers will be Chance MacNeill, Caden MacNeill, Otis MacNeill, Steve Sullins, Darren Messick and Robert Hudson. Honorary pallbearers include Carl Hudson, Doris Mann, JR Mann, Neil Bell, Fred Bell, Kevin Broers, Dr. Charles Klepper, Glenn Smith and the employees of Re/Max Unlimited, Inc.
The son of George Walker and Effie Winnie (Andrews) Chaney was born Nov. 2, 1914, at Lowery. He attended the Highway Church of Christ in Harrison. He married Norma Ann Bell at Lead Hill, on Jan. 29, 1938. Ben, as his family and friends knew him, was a self-employed auto mechanic, first at his garage in Pyatt and in 1965, opening Chaney's Garage on 62-65 North at the current location of Re/Max Unlimited.
He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Norma Ann Chaney in 2002 after 64 years of marriage; and his sisters, Jessie Bailey, Cliffie Richardson, Frankie Goin, Roxie Lawhorn and Pearl Clary.
He is survived by his son and daughter-in-law, Richard and Sheryl Chaney of Harrison; brothers, Bruce Chaney of Lead Hill and Rue Chaney of Pyatt; a sister, Opal Lewis of Wagner, Okla.; three granddaughters, Beth MacNeill and her husband, Otis of Fort Worth, Texas, Angela Sullins and her husband, Steve of Springdale and Sidney Messick and her husband Darren of Harrison; great-grandsons, Chance MacNeill, Caden MacNeill, Jake Sullins, Colton Messick and Rylan Messick; a great-granddaughter, Haley Sullins; and Brenda Irvin, who cared for him like family.
