ELMER B. CHANDLER

Elmer B. Chandler, son of John H. and Indiana Chandler was born July 18, 1884, died December 26, 1900, at the age of 16 years, 5 months and 8 days. He was born near Alfordsville. Death was the result of internal hemorrhages. He had been ill only a few days and did not appear to be at all serious, therefore his death was entirely unexpected.

Elmer was a good boy and was held in the highest esteem by all who knew him. He was a member of the M.E. church, having united with that congregation about two years ago during the pastorate of Rev. L. A. Peck.

The funeral services were held Friday, December 28th at the M. E. church, conducted by Rev. Mr. Thom and were very impressive.

The Cornet Band of which he was a member, played Langfellow’s funeral march at the church and had principal charge of the burial.

A large crowd of sorrowing relatives and friends attended the funeral services and followed the remains to Sugar Creek cemetery where they were laid peacefully away.

The pall bearers were Frank Kays, Omer Truelove, Mason Camp, W. W. Ham, Joseph A. Chandler and Al Ham, all members of the Alfordsville Cornet Band.

The Cornet Band has lost a good and dutiful member, and the family an obedient and loving son and brother.

NOTE: RESOLUTIONS OF THE ALFORDSVILLE CORNET BAND THAT WERE INCLUDED IN THE ORIGINAL OBITUARY HAVE BEEN OMITTED.
