Death of Mrs. Anna L. Ayer.
We regret to learn of the death of this venerable lady the wife of Mr. Charles Ayer of Wakarusa township which took place at her residence Sunday last at 3 o'clock in the afternoon. Mrs. Ayer was born in Stonington in Connecticut in 1792 and was therefore 81 years of age. Mrs. Ayer was a most devoted Christian having professed religion at the age of sixteen years, and lived the full life of Christian for sixty-five years as a member of the Methodist Episcopal Church. She was a lady of good education, extraordinary intelligence and was a most pleasant companion. The reader will remember that The Tribune published an account of the Golden Wedding of this aged couple which took place Sept. 14, 1866, and recorded the incidence of a most pleasant party. The funeral services took place at the church near the residence of Mrs. Ayer, and was very numerously attended. Rev. Herron delivered a most impressive sermon on the occasion. The remains of Mrs. Ayer were yesterday interred in Oak Hill Cemetery.
Note: Research has proved that year of birth was 1789 not 1792 as stated in obituary.
