Nancy, age 75, passed away peacefully on October 1, 2009 with her family by her side.
Nancy was born in Port Angeles, WA on May 27, 1934 to Leonard and Anita Champion. Nancy and her family moved to Ballard, WA where she went to school. Nancy graduated in 1952 from Ballard High School and then went to college for one year.
Nancy married the love of her life "Lefty" on July 6, 1953 in Champaign, IL. She then came back to the Edmonds, WA area while her husband was serving his Country.
Upon his return they started a family which would soon grow to two boys. She devoted her life to raising her children and being a loving wife, daughter, sister, and friend. She was a Teacher's Aide and did home typing while the boys were in school so she could be close to them and go to all of their sporting activities as well as being a Den Mother for their Cub Scouts. After the boys were grown she went to work for John Wallace, as his secretary, at Ogden, Ogden, Murphy & Wallace for ten years when she retired.
Nancy enjoyed camping, fishing and traveling with her family. Watching her son's and her grandchildren's sports was a highlight of her life. She also loved to read, can, bake, play cards, go shopping, walking, modeling, and volunteer work. Her passion was to dance as often as she could. She also enjoyed being a part of the Red Hat's Society.
She was preceded in death by her father, Leonard Champion; her mother, Anita Valentine Curtis; and husband, Horace "Lefty" Appleby.
She is survived by her two sons, Dave (Tracy) Appleby, Mike (Debbie) Appleby; six grandchildren, Tiffany, Breanne (Sean), Ryan, Kyle, Whitney and Jeremy; two brothers, Leonard (JoAnn) Champion, Gary (Carol) Curtis; step father, Chester (Delores) Curtis; niece, Sue Champion; nephews, Steve and Clint Champion; great-nieces and nephews; cousins, her extended families and her many friends.
The family would like to thank Washington Oaks, for their friendship this last year, as you all became her second family. She truly enjoyed her time there.
We will continue to cherish the many happy memories and share the love she unconditionally gave to all of us that is irreplacable in our hearts.
