Funeral servies for Dewey M. Champ, 82, 709 S. Meridian St., Portland, are set for Tuesday at 1:30 p.m. at the Williamson & Spencer Funeral Home. Rev. Russell Henry will officiate. Burial will follow in Maple Lawn Cemetery at Pennvlle. Graveside millitary rites will be in charge of the American Legion Post of Portland.
Champ died late Saturday evening at the Jay County Hospital after an extended illness. He was a retire employee of Avco Division of New Ideas Corp., Coldwater, Ohio. A veteran of World War II, he was a member of the American legion Post 211 of Portland. He also belonged to the Central Indiana Cycle Club.
Born April 6, 1920 in Jay County, his parents were Lerten and Opal (Alexander) Champ. On July 17, 1948, he was married to Velma E. Shaneyfelt, who srvives.
Surviving besides his wife, are two brothers, Eugene I. Champ, RR 1, Redkey and Holly F. Champ, Redkey and one sister, Mrs. Wilbur (Irene) Richards, Fort Wayne.
