After receiving her degree in nursing, Tommie and her husband Charles Alexander returned to her East Texas roots where she would work as a nurse at Shelby General Hospital.
In 1962, Charles and Tommie incorporated Timpson Tamco and Timpson, Texas became their home. This is where they would raise their children and own and operate several businesses throughout the years. In 2003, Tommie was honored with the Pioneer Spirit award by the Timpson Area Chamber of Commerce.
Everyone was always welcomed at Miss Tommie's. She loved each of her children's friends as if they were her own. Anyone who has ever known her has rich fond memories of her, whether they be a friend or employee. The most important relationship in Tommie's life was with her Lord and Saviour, Jesus Christ. Her unbending faith in Christ carried her through many good and bad times. She never failed to be thankful for all her blessings. The most precious of all her blessings were her children, grandchildren and great greandchildren. She exemplified God's love by being a never-ending blessing to all those around her. She not only was a mother, or friend, but an angel bound here on earth who is now set free.
In addition to her parents, Tommie is preceded in death by her most trusted life long friend and business partner, Charles Hershel Alexander, grandson Christopher Shane Peveto, and best friend and cousin Mary Alice Cash Davis. She leaves behind a multitude of blessings in her children, Billy Wayne Peveto of Timpson, Charles David Alexander and wife Patti of George West, TX, and her daughter Teri Lea Alexander of Timpson. Her treasury of grandchildren who brought her endless hours of joy: Jason Peveto, Seth Alexander, Taylor Alexander, Kayla Faust, Victoria Mosby, Halea Mosby, Lauren Alexander and Joshua Alexander.
