Old Resident Is Called By Death
Mrs. Frances C. Barker Dies As Consequence of Stroke
Death claimed Mrs. Frances C. Barker, one of Reno's oldest residents, at an early hour this morning. Mrs. Barker died at the home of her niece Mrs. F. M. Schadler, 445 South Virginia Street, at the age of 73 years. Death was to a shock with which she was attacked shortly after six o'clock last night.
For three years Mrs. Barker has been an invalid. At many times during that period it was not believed that she would survive but partial recovery always followed her serious attacks until this one.
Hartford, Conn., was the birth place of Mrs. Barker. Her maiden name was Chamberlin. At an early age Mrs. Barker left Connecticut and went to Mexico. In 1876 she married D.H. Barker and they came immediately to Reno, where she has resided since. During her 39 years residence in Reno Mrs. Barker made hosts of friends. She was very active in the work of Trinity Episcopal Church and in its Guild. Her home was on Mill Street until five months ago she went to live with her niece, Mrs. Schadler.
Mrs. Barker leaves a brother, A.S. Chamberlin, who also lives at the home of Mrs. F.M. Schadler, and is aunt of Mrs. K.M. Smith of Sparks as well as of Mrs. Schadler.
The funeral will be held Thursday afternoon at the Schadler home. Rev. Samuel Unsworth will officiate.
