MANNSVILLE -- Services for Billie Jean Chaffin, 69, will be at 2 p.m. Tuesday at the Assembly of God Church with Burney Cope and Milton Murphy officiating. Interment will be at Mannsville Cemetery under the direction of Watts Funeral Home.
Mrs. Chaffin died May 9, 1998, in the Ardmore hospital. She was born Feb. 15, 1929, at Mannsville, to William F. and Sybil L. Bell James.
She was a former secretary for Ranger Plant Construction Company and a member of Mannsville United Methodist Church. She and Melvin Chaffin were married May 6, 1970, at Gainesville, Texas. She had been a resident of Sulphur since 1970.
Survivors include her husband, of the home; a son, Ronald Greene, Bethany; two daughters, Carol Wilkins, Ardmore, and Stacey Rochelle, Sulphur; two stepsons, Scott and Keith Chaffin; and stepdaughter, Janet Gray, all of Springfield, Mo.; four brothers, W.F. "Dub" James, Morrison, William, Dennis and Ricky James, Mannsville; ten grandchildren; and five stepgrandchildren. She was preceded in death by a son, Bruce Greene.
Bearers will be Zack Crane, Russell Watson, Dewayne Brown, Todd Crumb, Kevin Dale, Jessie, Matt and Jeff James. Honorary bearers are Stephen Chaffin, Jamie, Blake, Joe and Jerry James.
Watts Funeral Home will direct services.
