Augustine V. Chacon 82, a resident of Mimbres, NM entered eternal rest on Friday, April 2, 2010 at Memorial Medical in Las Cruces, NM. He was born July 12, 1927 to Abran and Viviana (Vasquez) Chacon in Santa Rita, NM. He is survived by his loving wife of 58yrs, Elvira "Vera" M. Chacon of the family home; one son, Ramon "Ray" Chacon of Mimbres; one daughter, Yolanda Chacon Valle (Andres) of Las Cruces; one brother, Gaspar Chacon (Teresa) of Santa Fe; one sister, Lupe Ornelas (Victor) of Silver City; two granddaughters, Michelle Jacquez Lopez and husband Alex of Las Vegas, NV; Gina Chacon Rodriguez and husband Gary of North Hurley; five great-grandchildren, Cynthia, Alexis, Alex Lopez Jr., G.J and Zynasia Rodriguez. He was preceded in death by his parents, one brother, Jesus "Tuti" Chacon; three sisters, Rosa Arvizo, Katie Alirez and Connie Ryan. Visitation will be Wednesday, April 7th from 3-7pm at Terrazas Funeral Chapels with the vigil service to begin at 7pm with Deacon David Castanon reciting the vigil service and holy rosary. The funeral liturgy will be celebrated Thursday, April 8th at 10am at Our Lady of Fatima Church with Father Paulus Kao officiating. The interment will follow at Fort Bayard National Cemetery with full military honors. Pallbearers will be Alex Lopez, Gary Rodriguez, Andres Valle, Tony Ornelas, Richard Chavez, Jose Reyes, Saul Pedraza, Albert "Wico" Morales. Honorary pallbearers will be Gaspar Chacon, Jose Sierra Jr., Tommy Ryan Sr., Victor Ornelas, the Vasquez family and the rest of his friends.
