Grace Caviness Baker, a retired physical therapist, died Tuesday in a Portland area hospital. She was 81.
Mrs. Baker was born in Joseph. Her late parents, Lawrence and Anna Caviness, were second-generation members of a pioneer Oregon family. She and her family moved to Portland in 1919.
She graduated from St. Helens Hall and the University of Oregon, where she was a member of Alpha Xi Delta Sorority and a member of the swim and rifle teams.
Mrs. Baker worked in hospitals at Los Angeles and Seattle. She later was a teacher and did secretarial work at schools in Everett, Wash., and Portland, retiring in 1967.
Survivors include two sisters, Lois Ohm of Mesa, Ariz., and Nadine Killits of King City.
As Mrs. Baker requested, there will be no funeral.
