He was a native of Waycross, Ga., and had been living here for the past 21 years coming from Orange Park. He was a veteran of the U.S. Navy, serving during the Korean Conflict. He was a bus driver with Greyhound for 18 years prior to his retirement. He was of the Baptist denomination and was a member of the Bradford Lodge No. 35 F&AM in Starke, the Morocco Temple, Scottisb Rite, Jacksonville and a member of the Crescent City Moose Lodge No. 1641. He enjoyed fishing and working with his fruit trees.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Earnest Scott Cauley Sr. and Maniesy Chancey Cauley, and a brother, E. S. Cauley Jr.
Surviving are his wife of 26 years, Velta J. Cauley of Satsuma; a daughter and son-in-law, Elaine and Rev. Donny Lott of Keystone Heights; sons and daughters-in-law, Edgar J. "Jimmy" Cauley Jr. and wife Shelley of Atlanta, Ga., Edwin K. "Kenny" and Saralyn Cauley of Terminal Island, Calif., Earnest N. "Earnie" Cauley of Keystone Heights and Edward H. "Eddie" Cauley of Leesburg; a sister, Mildred O'Neal of Rockledge; a brother, Henry Earl Cauley of Baxley, Ga.; 12 grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.
Funeral service will be Tuesday, March 19, 2002, in the chapel of Masters Funeral Home of Palatka with Rev. Eddie Blalock and Rev. Donnie Lott officiating. Interment will follow in Palatka Memorial Gardens. (Palatka Daily News Obituary dtd 18 Mar 2002.)
