Jean worked for the Waynesboro School system for 20 years. She loved her family and friends, the outdoors and her flower gardens.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Athel C. Caul, in 1999; a daughter, Jacqueline Caul, in 1965; and special friends, Ray and Joyce Wimer.
Surviving are three sons, James Caul and wife, Jenny, of Newnan, Ga., and Jerry and Don Caul, both of Waynesboro; three sisters, Alice Williams of Covington, Bertha Edwards of Springfield and Margaret Howard of Statesville, N.C.; a brother, Robert F. Sutphin of Covington; one aunt, Helen Lantz of Covington; four grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; and five nieces and nephews.
A graveside service will be conducted at 11 a.m. Thursday, June 10, 2010, at Augusta Memorial Park.
The family will receive friends from 7 to 8 p.m. Wednesday at McDow Funeral Home.
A special thanks to the nursing staff at Avanté of Waynesboro.
In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made to Hospice of the Piedmont, 675 Peter Jefferson Parkway, Suite 300, Charlottesville, Va 22911.
