The Reverend Arnold Roosevelt Catterton, age 84, of Yemassee, entered into his eternal rest with his Savior, Monday morning, October 29, 2007, at his residence under the care of Odyssey Health Care Hospice.
Funeral services will be held 2 o'clock Wednesday afternoon, October 31, 2007, from The Brice W. Herndon and Sons Funeral Chapel, Walterboro. Interment will follow in Black Creek Baptist Church Cemetery, 4931 Black Creek Road, Walterboro. The family has requested that all members of the Clergy serve as honorary escorts.
The Reverend Catterton was born October 5, 1923, in Colleton County and was one of eight children born to the late Theodore Ross Catterton and the late Margaret Smoak Catterton.
He served his country faithfully in the United States Navy, having seen action in the Pacific Theater while assigned to the USS Randolph. A true servant of God, Bishop Catterton, lead many to the Lord, as well as helping many fellow pastors answer their calling to the ministry. He was ordained as a Bishop by the Church of God and served many pastorates in South Carolina. His most notable assignment was the Hardeeville Church of God where he served victoriously for thirty-three years. Remembered by many for love of our God, The Reverend Arnold R. Catterton's legacy will live on through those whom he taught the word and lead to Christ. His family will remember him as a family man who loved his wife, children and grandchildren; loved to ride his tractor; and loved hunting.
He was preceded in death by a grandson, Jonathan David Lomnick.
