Linda, 71, of Grand Ledge, passed away Saturday, following a sudden illness. Mrs. Catey was born in College Station, TN, the daughter of Tom and Delma (Hale) Cagle.

Being born in the state of Tennessee, known as the "Volunteer State", many family members speculate that is where she may have learned the art of "volunteerism", and Linda was a very active volunteer. She was very active in the state and local square dance community from state to national levels. She was active in the local square dance scene as "Round Dance Cuer". Linda took great pleasure in volunteering at the Wharton Center and Riverwalk Theatre. She formerly volunteered at WKAR radio station Talking Book and Sports Report programs and the Eaton Area Senior Center.

Linda and her husband Lloyd loved to travel and were able to visit family and friends around the country. Ms. Catey was also an artist; took great pride in her stained glass, tole painting and many other.

Many will remember Linda as a secretary for Michigan State University's Laboratory Animal Care Facility, retiring in 1996.

Linda is survived by her husband of 56 years, Wm Lloyd Catey; daughters, Shannon Lovaas of Grand Ledge; Shari (Douglas Large) Alber of Wimberly, TX; her brother Richard (Joy) Cagle of Kalamazoo; sister Chris Cunningham of Dimondale; 5 grandchildren, Jason (Jenny) Pearson of Eagle; Melissa (Jason) Pohl of Bryan, TX., David Pearson of Grand Ledge, Erika Lovaas of Lansing, Mollie Alber of Bryan, TX.; and 5 great-grandchildren, Tyler Pearson, Rhyan and McKenna Pearson, and Vincent and Gabriel Pearson.

She was predeceased by her daughter, Alisa Pearson and granddaughter, Sallie Lovaas both in 2010.

Funeral services were held on Wednesday, January 11, 2012, at Pray Funeral Home in Charlotte.

If desired, the family suggests memorial contributions to the Eaton Area Senior Center.

Arrangements by Pray Funeral Home, Charlotte, MI.
