Allen Castleman

Services for Allen J. Castleman, 79, East Moline, are 2 p.m. Saturday at Van Hoe Funeral Home Ltd., East Moline. Visitation is one hour prior to the services.

Memorials may be made to a charity of the donor's choice. His body was donated to the University of Osteopathic Medicine and Health Sciences, Des Moines. Upon completion of medical study, burial will be in a National Cemetery.

Mr. Castleman died Friday, Oct. 3, 1997, at Illini Hospital, Silvis.

He was born April 12, 1918, in Riverton, Ill. He attended schools in Riverton and graduated from Williamsville High School. He married Lorene Lamb Feb. 15, 1947, in Springfield.

He was a sheet metal worker at King Lar, Decatur, for a number of years and later retired from the local 91 in 1981. He later worked part time as a security guard at Pinkerton.

He was a World War II Army veteran, serving in the European Theater. He was stationed in Normandy on VJ day.

Survivors include his wife; a daughter, Cynthia Kilgore, Barstow; sons, Richard Castleman, Issaquah, Wash., Robert Castleman and Roger Castleman, both of East Moline; 11 grandchildren; a great-granddaughter; and a half-brother, Robert Flanagan, Springfield.
