Ethel E. Castlebury, 92, of Plymouth, died at 11:21 p.m. Sunday (June 3, 2012) in Memorial Hospital in Carthage.
She was born Oct 1, 1919 in Pearl, a daughter of Jess and Allie (Wheeler) Smith. On May 25, 1940, she was married to Max H. Castlebury. He died Dec. 26, 1999.
She graduated from high school in Pearl and was a homemaker. She was a longtime member of the MGR Neighborhood Club. She was a dedicated caregiver to her parents, husband, children, and grandchildren. She loved shopping; going to the county fairs; and spending time with family and friends.
Survivors include two sons, Elden and Mary Lea Castlebury and Dennis Castlebury of Plymouth; grandchildren, Dr. Lisa A. Castlebury of Laurel, MD, Brian Castlebury of Plymouth, James (Sarah) Castlebury of Coralville, IA; Jessica (Justin) Long of Springfield; Jay Castlebury of Macomb; Carlee, Jacy, and Denna Castlebury of Plymouth; and one great-grandchild, Jared Long of Springfield.
Ethel was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Max Castlebury; a daughter-in-law, Dixie Castlebury; and two brothers, Harold and Oren Smith.
Services were held at 10:30 am. Thursday, June 8, 2012 in Irwin Cemetery near Plymouth, with the Rev. Jerry Taylor conducting.
Visitation was held on Wednesday evening from 5 to 7 p.m. in the Hamilton Funeral Home, Augusta.
Memorials were for the Irwin Cemetery. Hamilton Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements
