Mrs. Agnes Cassell died last night at 6:15 o'clock at the home of her daughter, Mrs. Hiram Edwards, Spring between Pearl and Bank streets, after a week's illness of paralysis of the stomach. She was born seventy-one years ago at Shelbyville, Ky., and had been a resident of this city for sixty-six years. She leaves another daughter, Mrs. Ann Eliza Genung, and four sisters, Mrs. Susan Stran and Mrs. Louise Smith, of this city; Mrs. Margaret Newkirk, of Covington, Ky., and Mrs. Martha J. J. Lemon, of Chicago. She was the daughter of Mrs. Lucy H. Griffin, who was a niece of President Thomas Jefferson. The remains were taken last night to the residence of her daughter, Mrs. Genung, from which place the funeral will be held. - New Albany Evening Tribune 23 Aug 1894
