Mrs. Bernard was born May 30, 1937 in Banderos, Mexico; the daughter of Cosme Castillo and Maria (Vargas) Castillo.
She was married to Raymond Bernard and he preceded her in death Jan. 13, 1991. She was a longtime resident of Artesia.
She was a meat wrapper for Payne Packing and member of Our Lady of Grace Catholic Church. She was preceded in death by her parents and a grandson KristopherRae Munoz.
Survivors include son Raymond Bernard of Artesia; daughters Elizabeth Marie Balencia of Artesia, and Loretta Ann Bernard of San Diego, Calif.; brothers Manuel Castillo of Tucson, Arizona, Adrian Castillo of Tucson, and Trini Castillo of Artesia; sisters Margie Garcia of Roswell, N.M., and Ignacia Alfaro of Lakeworth, Texas; 5 grandchildren and 4 great-grandchildren.
