Indianapolis News - Friday, November 26, 1948:

Funeral services for Dawson A. Caster, 70, East 51st Street, Spanish-American War veteran and shop foreman 38 years for Indianapolis Railways, Inc., who died Thursday in Methodist Hospital, will be held Saturday at 3 pm. in Flanner & Buchanan Mortuary. Burial will be in Crown Hill Cemetery.

Born at Cassville in Howard County, Mr. Caster had lived in Indianapolis 47 years. He was first employed by the street railway company 46 years ago as a master mechanic. Prior to that he had been employed a year as master mechanic by the St. Louis Car Co. Last Monday night, he was elected president of the street railway company's 20-Year Club at its annual banquet.

Mr. Caster was a member of the Spanish-American War Veterans, the Indianapolis Chamber of Commerce, the Meridian Heights Presbyterian Church, Pentalpha Masonic Lodge, Scottish Rite, and Shrine.

Surviving are the widow, Mrs. Charlotte M. Caster; a son, Arthur Dawson Caster, Worthington, Ohio; a brother, Claude Caster, Greentown; a sister, Mrs. Earl Myers, Morgantown; and two grandchildren.
