Truett loved the Lord, serving him as a member of First Baptist Church of Mansfield for over 50 years, where he was Sunday School superintendent, deacon and chairman of the deacons.
Truett had been a member of Walnut Ridge Baptist Church for 10 years.
He also loved farming and raising cows. He was a lifetime farmer and had retired from the Federal Correctional Institution in Fort Worth.
Survivors: Wife of 64 years, Lavon Casstevens of Mansfield, daughters, Shelia Betzel and husband Al of Mansfield, and Karen Parker and husband Rick of Mansfield. Granddaughter, Heather Strawn and husband Stacy of Arlington, great-grandsons, Landon and Cody Strawn, and several nieces, nephews and cousins.
