Bea Adkins - 1927-2009

Beatrice Cassell Adkins, 81, of Lexington, rests peacefully following her passing Tuesday, Feb. 24, 2009, in Central Baptist Hospital in Lexington, Ky.

Mrs. Adkins was born Oct. 21, 1927, at Ulysses, Ky., a daughter of the late Luther Sr., and Martha Ellen Edwards Cassell.

Bea graduated from Thomas R. Brown High School Class of '47, where she lettered as a cheerleader. She was a devoted homemaker, enjoyed playing bridge and was of the Methodist faith.

Sadly left behind is a loving family, including her husband of 60 years, Wallace "Wally" G. Adkins; a daughter, Cheri A. Ross and her husband, Dr. David Ross, of Cocoa Beach, Fla.; a brother, Curtis Cassell and his wife, Betty of Ashland; and a granddaughter, Alicia I. Rose of Lexington.

Also preceding her in death was a brother, Luther Cassell.

Final rest will follow a graveside service at 3 p.m. Friday, Feb. 27, 2009, at Ashland Cemetery. Words of comfort will be offered by Pastor Charles Allen.

The Adkins family graciously requests contributions be made to a favorite charity in lieu of floral tributes.
