Dorothy Alderson, 88, Tyler, died Tuesday, May 3, 2005 at Sunrise Manor Nursing Home, Tyler.
Funeral services were held Friday, May 6 at St. James Lutheran Church, Holland, with Rev. Evan Schiller officiating.
Casket bearers were Scott, Todd, Curtis, Neil, Barry, Cary, Jeffrey and Heather Alderson, Brenda Kellen and Shelly Gylling.
Interment was in the Holland Cemetery, Holland.
Dorothy Louise was born to Samuel and Henrietta (Meier) Casper on Aug. 11, 1916 in Hersey Township, Nobles County near Brewster. She was baptized on Sept. 24, 1916 and confirmed on May 18, 1930 in Trinity Lutheran church in Brewster. She was raised on the family farm where she attended country school and graduated from Brewster High School.
She married Roy Alderson on March 17, 1937 in Brewster. Following their marriage they farmed near Lake Benton. Two years later they moved to a farm five miles west of Ruthton.
On March 17, 1983, Roy preceded her in death. After his death she continued to live on the farm until 1986 when she moved to Holland. On July 24, 2003 she moved to Danebod Village in Tyler. In March 2005 she became a resident at Sunrise Manor Nursing Home. She was recently a patient at Sioux Valley Hospital in Sioux Falls, S.D. On April 21, 2005 she returned to Sunrise Manor Nursing Home.
She was a member of St. James Lutheran Church, Holland where she was active in church circle, ladies aid, and Bible class. She was also active in the Holland Senior Citizens.
She is survived by her three sons, William (Jean) Alderson, Ruthton; Wesley (Lana) Alderson, Holland and Wayne (Monica) Alderson, Ruthton; ten grandchildren; 16 great-grandchildren;
Three sisters, Eleanore (Alvin) Ebeling, Worthington; Mavis Behrends, Braham and Betty Berreau, Brewster; and one sister-in-law, Ruth Casper, Brewster.
She was preceded in death by her husband; one brother, Samuel Casper and two sisters, Ardella Behrends and Marlene Morrison.
