CANASTOTA >> Wanda L. Casolare, 69, of 7076 New Yorker Ave., passed away on Tuesday, May 12, 2015, at her home with her loving family at her side under the care of Hospice.She was born on Aug. 10, 1945, in Lyons, a daughter of Clarence and Grace Van Pelt Flynn. Wanda was a graduate of Lyons High School, Class of 1963.On June 27, 1964, Wanda was united in marriage to Peter J. Casolare in the Canastota Methodist Church.Wanda was the branch manager of the Seneca Federal Savings and Loan for 23 years, retiring in 2000. She then went on to be a residential house manager for the Madison-Cortland ARC.She was of the Methodist Faith and a former member of the Canastota Rotary Club.Wanda was an avid reader and enjoyed travelling especially to Maine. Her true joy in life was spending time with her seven grandchildren. They were the light of her life.Surviving besides her loving husband of 50 years, Peter, are a daughter and son-in-law, Stephanie and Joseph Varano, of Canastota; a son and daughter-in-law, Keith and Karen Casolare, of Canastota; seven grandchildren, Logan, Lindsey, Keith Jr., Kendra, Kendrick, Kaidyn, and Korbyn; a sister and brother-in-law, Dorothy and William Bernhardt, of Munnsville; and several nieces and nephews.Wanda was predeceased by two sisters, Elizabeth "Betty" Relyea and Shirley Tefft.Funeral services will be held 10 a.m. Saturday, May 16, 2015, at the Ironside Funeral Home, Inc., where the Rev. Marsha King will officiate. Interment will take place in Shed's Cemetery. Family and friends are invited and may call from 3-7 p.m. Friday at the funeral home, 342 Main St., Oneida.
