Jan Powell Caskey, 67, of Dayton, died Saturday, January 14, 2012, at the M. D. Anderson Cancer Center in Houston.

Memorial services will be held at 2:00 p.m., Saturday, January 21, 2012, at the Pace-Stancil Funeral Home Chapel. Services are under the direction of Pace-Stancil Funeral Home in Dayton.

Jan was born July 16, 1944 in Monahans, to parents; C. B. "Buck" and Geraldine L. Hartman Powell, a former resident of Atascocita, and has resided in the Dayton area for the past 10 years. She was a graduate of the Ft. Stockton High School class of 1963, attended college in Midland/Odessa, a retired correctional officer from T.D.C.J. Plain State Jail, a former EMT for Ft. Stockton, and a former volunteer for the Texas Gay Rodeo Association. She also enjoyed camping, gardening, ceramics, and stained glass.

Ms. Caskey was preceded in death by her parents. She is survived by her life partner: Carrie Uhrich of Dayton, sons: Vance Caskey and wife Heather of Pearl River, LA and Kraig Caskey and wife Quechi of Little Elm, sisters: Carla Barrett of Plano and Gwen Sackett of Groesbeck, brother: Rodney Powell of AK, grandchildren: Bryson, Brock, Trevor, and Kassidy Caskey, and numerous nieces, nephews, other relatives, and friends.

In lieu of usual floral remembrances, the family requests that donations be made to The University of Texas MD Anderson Cancer Center, P.O. Box 4486, Houston, Texas 77210-4486, to further leukemia research in Jan's Name
