Jean E. Caskey Banaszek, 83, of Harborcreek and formerly of Zimmerman Road, died Sunday evening October 21, 2012 at her residence following a lengthy illness.
A lifelong resident of Erie she was born February 9, 1929 a daughter of the late Raymond C. and Florence Schwartz Caskey. Jean worked for Tillman's Greenhouse for over 30 years and attended Glenwood United Methodist Church. Family always came first for Jean and she was an avid bowler. She enjoyed gardening, animals, baking, and volunteering with the Metro Hospital.
In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her husband Harry E. Banaszek and her daughter, Cheryl Nodzak.
Survivors include one son, James A. Banaszek and his wife Karin of Erie; one daughter, Cynthia Guzowski and her husband Thomas Sr. of Erie; son-in-law Donald Nodzak, of Erie; one brother, Charles Caskey Sr. and his wife Christine A. of Erie; three grandchildren, Thomas Guzowski Jr. and his wife Gerri, Brian Guzowski and his wife Kim, and Staci Rock and her husband Shane; three great grandchildren Austin, Ava, and Tyler Guzowski; and many nieces and nephews.
Friends may call at the Russell C. Schmidt & Son Funeral Home on Wednesday from 2 to 5 p.m. and 7 to 9 p.m. and are invited to a funeral service there on Thursday at 1:00 p.m.
Burial will be in Wintergreen Gorge Cemetery.
The family would like to thank Comfort Care and Great Lakes Hospice for the loving care given to Jean.
