Ryan Casey, age 11, of 1135 Mill Creek Road, Erwin, died Sunday, April 18, 2010, from injuries sustained in an ATV accident.

Ryan was a lifelong resident of Unicoi County and a son of Charles L. Casey and the late Marcia Sue Church Casey.

He was a sixth-grade student at Unicoi County Middle School in Mrs. Longcrier's homeroom.

Ryan was a member of Fellowship Free Will Baptist Church. He was active in Motorcross Racing, where he had raced competitively since the age of 4 with many successful wins.

He enjoyed NASCAR racing, attending drag races and Busch Series racing at Bristol Motor Speedway and attending the University of Tennessee football games.

Other than his mother, he was preceded in death by his maternal grandparents, Charles and Marie Church, and paternal grandfather, Alvin Casey.

In addition to his father, survivors include his paternal grandmother, Trula Casey, Unicoi; half-brother, David McKinney, Jonesborough; half-sister, Pamela Cannon, Greeneville; aunts and uncles, Clarice McNabb, Viola Williams and husband, Frank, William "Jed" Casey and wife, Bell, Nina Hensley and husband, Teddy, Dewayne Casey and wife, Kim, Pam Crawford and husband, T.J.; and several cousins and friends.

Funeral services for Ryan Casey will be held at 8 p.m. Wednesday, April 21, from the Robert Ledford Funeral Home Chapel. Preacher Michael Rice and the Rev. Steve Wilson will officiate. Music will be provided by Allan Foster, Hannah Holly and Inez Chandler.

Pallbearers will be Joshua, Tiny, Dustin and Brandon Casey, Spencer Crawford, Daniel Whitaker and Craig and Eric Smith.

The family will receive friends from 5-8 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home and other times at the residence.

Committal service will be held at 1 p.m. Thursday, April 22, at the Bumpus Cove Cemetery. Family, ministers, pallbearers and friends are requested to meet at the funeral home by 12:15 p.m. to go in procession to the cemetery.

Memorials may be made to assist with funeral expenses, in care of Clinchfield Federal Credit Union, Ryan Casey Funeral Fund, Post Office Box 310, Erwin, TN 37650.

Robert Ledford Funeral Home is in charge.
