Her death certificate says she was born in Illinois. However, other sources say she was born in Oregon County, Missouri

Mrs Caroline Burks – Sister Burks was born Aug 11, 1845; died Oct 2, 1918, age 73 years, 1 month and 21 days. She was married to John R. Burks Feb. 13, 1868, and to this union were born four children—two dead and two living, Mrs. R.M. Livingston and Samuel I. Burks.

Sister Burks was converted at the age of 18 years, united with the Methodist Church. All theses 55 years she lived faithfully to the Lord, living in communion and fellowship with said church.

The deceased leaves besides relatives many friends to mourn her loss. Funeral services were conducted by the writer, at the Livingston Cemetery, in the midst of quite a number of sorrowing relatives and friends. The body was laid to rest in the burying ground above mentioned. –Rev. C.M. Sooter
