William L. Casey, Jr. D.D.S., age 85 of Little Rock, died Friday, March 26, 2010 at his home surrounded by his loving family.

Bill was the son of Verdie Mae O'Quin Casey and William L. Casey, Sr. He was born April 20, 1924.

He attended public schools and graduated from Little Rock High School in 1943. He played in the band and was the Drum Major of the marching band. He was a member of Delta Sigma Fraternity.

Bill volunteered for and entered the U.S. Navy in 1943. He served in the Pacific and was honorably discharged in 1946. He attended Little Rock Junior college from 1946 to 1948. He was accepted at Loyola University Chicago College of Dental Surgery in 1948 and graduated with degree of D.D.S. in 1952. He entered S.P.P. in orthodontics in 1953 and completed all requirements in 1956.

He married Jean Marie Hotredt, January 2, 1952. They have one son, Lawrence William Casey.

He served on numerous appointments on District, State and National level of organized dentistry including; Secretary of Central District Dental Society, Chairman, Insurance Committee, Arkansas State Dental Association, President, Arkansas Orthodontic Association, President, Southwestern Society of Orthodontists, Chairman, Council on Insurance, American Dental Association and a delegate of the House of Delegates of the American Association of Orthodontists.

He was a Methodist and member of Asbury United Methodist Church.

He held memberships in Pulaski County Dental Society, Central District Dental Society, Arkansas State Dental Association, American Dental Association, Arkansas Orthodontic Association, Southwestern Society of Orthodontists, American Association of Orthodontists, Diplomat, American Board of Orthodontists, College of Diplomats, American Board of Orthodontists, International College of Dentists, Delta Sigma Delta Dental Fraternity, and Blue Key National Honor Fraternity.

Bill served as president of Little Rock Downtown Lions Club and Pleasant Valley Lions Club. He was on the courtesy staff of Arkansas Children's Hospital and U. of A. Medical Schools, on the Cleft Palate Conference, Arkansas Children's Hospital Board of Directors, and Arkansas Dental Assistants School, Board of Stewards of the Methodist Church and President, Pleasant Valley Property Owners Association.

He presented clinics and papers on orthodontics to Central District Dental Society, Arkansas State Dental Association, Southwestern Society of Orthodontists, American Association of Orthodontist, Mexican Association of Orthodontists and the Kenya Dental Association.

He was honored to receive membership in the Milestone Award-Loyola University, Chicago College of Dental Surgery. The Silver Cane Award – Arkansas Enterprise for the Blind, Honorary Citizen – Little Rock, Arkansas, Arkansas Traveler, State of Arkansas, Honorary Citizen –State of Tennessee, and Honorary Member – Southwestern Society of Orthodontists.

Bill was preceded in death by his parents, Mr. and Mrs. William L. Casey, Sr.; two sisters, Mrs. Gladys Griffin and Mrs. Glada Bradshaw; and one brother, Norman L. Casey.

He is survived by his wife, Jean Marie Casey; son Lawrence W. Casey (Deborah); two grandchildren, two great grandchildren and numerous cousins, nieces and nephews.

Private family burial was at Pinecrest Cemetery.
