Marie's younger years were spent in Germany, the place of her birth. Her family were prominent in the community. Right at the outbreak of World War I, Marie's father, fearing for her well being and safety, sent her to America to live.
Here, she met and married Clarence 'Gene Casey. He was a mail carrier and when he retired, both of them being Jehovah's Witnesses, decided to spend their full time in the ministry going door to door. They were known then as Special Pioneers, putting at least 120 hours a month in the door to door ministry. They came into contact with, and began studying the Bible with many people in the midwest tri-state area of Southwest Missouri, Southeast Kansas and Southeast Oklahoma. They established many of the congregations and Kingdom Halls that are still active. Baxter Springs, Kansas; Miami, Oklahoma; Carthage, Missouri; Neosho, Missouri.
Both Gene and Marie were of the spirit annointed and had the heavenly hope. Rom. 8:14, 16, 17: "All who are led by God's spirit, these are God's sons. The spirit itself bears witness with our spirit that we are God's children. If, then, we are children, we are also heirs: heirs indeed of God, but joint heirs with Christ, provided we suffer together that we may also be glorified together." (At the time this was written it was true that all who were led by God's spirit were God's sons whose hope was that they would be glorified with Christ. But this had not always been true. Luke 1:15 says that John the Baptizer would be filled with holy spirit, but Matthew 11:11 makes clear that he will not share in the glory of the heavenly Kingdom. So, too, after the gathering of the heirs of the heavenly Kingdom, there would be others who would serve God as followers of his Son and yet not share in heavenly glory.)
Graveside services were held and Gene Mason, minister from the Grove, Oklahoma congregation gave the funeral discourse. Marie was buried next to Gene but there is not a stone to mark either of their graves.
