Janice M. (Soderstrom) Casey, 74, of South Yarmouth died Tuesday, Jan. 22, 2013, at Cape Cod Hospital in Hyannis, following a brief illness and a two-year battle with Alzheimers disease. Born, raised and educated in Canton, Mrs. Casey was the daughter of the late Winfred and Ruth (Baldwin) Soderstrom. During high school, she had the great fortune to meet, and eventually married the man of her dreams, Billy. She was the beloved wife for 36 years of William C. Casey. Mrs. Casey had a love of music that was second only to the love she shared with her family and friends. Her annual trips to Hawaii, with her husband, also brought her great joy and everlasting memories. A remarkably loving spouse, mother, sister and friend, Mrs. Casey was as close as one can come to being a saint. Her time here has made the world a better place. Mrs. Casey is survived by two children, Lynne Malloy and her husband Patrick of Yarmouthport, and Charles Casey and his wife Andrea of Lawrence; a sister, Dorothy Giangiordano of Canton; a brother, Charles Soderstrom of Hampton, N.H.; four grandchildren; several nieces and nephews; and her loving and thoughtful companion, Kevin OLeary of South Yarmouth. A funeral Mass will be celebrated at 10 a.m. Saturday, Jan. 26, in Saint Pius Tenth Church, Station Ave., South Yarmouth. Interment will be held at 1 p.m. Monday, Jan. 28, in Highland Cemetery, Norwood. Visiting hours will be held from 4 to 7 p.m. Friday, Jan. 25, in the Hallett Funeral Home, 273 Station Ave., South Yarmouth. As an expression of sympathy, memorial contributions may be made to Hope Dementia & Alzheimers Services, 765 Attucks Lane, Hyannis, MA 02601.
