Sally G. Bragaw, 90, of Harbor Springs passed away on March 22, 2008. She was at peace with her family at her side. Born on March 12, 1918, Sally was the eldest child of Helen A. Greene and Guy S. Greene. She was born in Toledo, Ohio and moved to Grosse Pointe, Michigan as a youth. She was the beloved wife of James Bragaw and cherished mother of Lawrence G. Cummings (Shannon) of Harbor Springs, Louise McDermott of Paradise Valley, Arizona and Harriet Graves of Petoskey. She is also survived by a stepson Richard Bragaw (Lemore) of Arlington Heights, Illinois, stepson James Bragaw Jr. (Darla) of Haleiwa, Hawaii, and stepdaughter Penny MacPherson-Mccready (Jim) of Harbor Springs. Sally graduated from The Liggett School in Grosse Pointe Woods and attended Connecticut College for Women in New London. Especially enjoyable were her summer camp years at Camp Songadeewin in Vermont. Among her many interests were downhill skiing (until age 85), tennis, and traveling. Sally was also a self-appointed restaurant critic. She remained in possession of her particular zest for life until the end. Her parents, a brother Guy Jr., and a grandson Nicholas preceded Sally in death. Besides her husband and children, Sally is survived by a sister, Nancy Allen of Harbor Springs; six grandchildren, Christopher Fifarek (Missy), Josh Fifarek, Lauren Graves, Alexandria Cummings, Jed Avery, and Chandler Cummings, as well as numerous nieces, nephews, and friends. A special survivor is Sherri Weaver, her friend and caregiver. She is also survived by five step-grandchildren and two step great-grandchildren. Memorials may be made to the Little Traverse Bay Humane Society, Hospice of Little Traverse, and The Christ Child Society of Northern Michigan. An interment service for Sally Case Bragaw and James Berry Bragaw, of Harbor Springs, will be 1 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 25, at Lakeview Cemetery in Harbor Springs. The Rev. Toby Jones of the First Presbyterian Church in Harbor Springs will officiate. A gathering will take place at Birchwood Farms Golf and Country Club immediately following the service. Mrs. Bragaw passed away on March 20, 2008, at the age of 90 Mr. Bragaw passed away on June 11, 2008, at the age of 93.
