Albert J. Casanova, 80, passed away May 1, 2006.An area resident all his life, he served in the Navy during World War II and retired from BFGoodrich after 33 years' service and Stow City Schools, as a high school Special Education teacher, after 33 years. Al was Past Commander of American Legion Post 449 and was a member of V.F.W. Post 3383.He was preceded in death by his first wife, Ruth E. and son, Jeffrey Scott, and will be missed by his current wife, Ruth W.; sons, Alan (Debbie) of Akron, David (Susan) of Stow, John (Christine) of Copley; daughter, Leslie (Stephen) Schafer of Stow; six grandchildren; stepsons, Joseph Major of Boyertown, Pa., Robert Magier of Red Oak, Texas; stepdaughter, Jeanne Lehning of Highland, Mich.; 13 stepgrandchildren; brother, Thomas of Sterling, Ohio; sisters, Virginia Drexler of Manchester, Ohio and Eleanor Mason of Boiling Spring, S.C.Friends and family will be welcome from 5 to 8 p.m. Wednesday at the Schlup-Pucak Funeral Home, Kenmore Blvd. at 8th St., where the funeral will be held at 11 a.m. on Thursday, with Rev. Linda Somerville officiating. Burial will be at Greenlawn Memorial Park, where American Legion Post 449 will conduct military service.
