Hazel G. Carver Brown, 91, of Vevay, died Monday, Aug. 2, 2010, at King's Daughters' Hospital.
She was born Feb. 15, 1919, in Switzerland County, the daughter of Everett K. and Mamie G. Cochran Carver. Hazel was raised in Switzerland County and was a 1937 graduate of Vevay High School. She was united in marriage on June 17, 1942 to Carl C. Brown. She operated a daycare and nursery for over 100 different children from 1960-1980. She was a member of the Switzerland Baptist Church in Vevay, where she was the former Sunday school superintendent. She was a member of the T.O.P.S. Club Inc. at the Switzerland Baptist Church, where she received an award on Feb. 16, 2001, for 30 consecutive years of K.O.P.S. status. She enjoyed crocheting and gardening. She was also a seamstress, sewing for her family and various children and adults in Vevay.
She is survived by one daughter, Juanita Richards of Vevay; one son, Gordon Brown of Maryland Heights, Mo.; two grandchildren; seven step grandchildren; and several great-grandchildren; and one special niece, Naomi Pettit of Vevay.
She was preceded in death by her parents.
The funeral was at Haskell & Morrison Funeral Home in Vevay. Burial was in New Liberty Cemetery in East Enterprise.
