Era Belle (Clardy) Carver, 92, of Evansville, Indiana, passed away Sunday, November 27, 2011 at Newburgh Health Care.
Era was born in Dunmor, Kentucky on December 14, 1918 to Spurgeon and Annie (Price) Clardy. Era was a stay at home mother, who spent her life caring for her family. She was also a Day Care provider who nurtured and cared for several children throughout her life, she was known to one and all as "Memaw".
Era enjoyed gardening and cooking, her specialties were fried chicken, green beans and blackberry jam cake. She was also well known in her neighborhood for her beautiful roses and flower garden. Era was a longtime member of Grace Baptist Church.
Era is survived by three daughters, Deborah Sue (Larry) Julian of Boonville, IN; Vivian Ann (Thomas) Bender of Evansville, IN; and Tammy Gayle (Larry) Goodman of Evansville, IN; one son, Jeffrey Wayne (Sherry) Carver of Evansville, IN; two step-daughters, Rosalie (Gale) Oglesby of Greenville, KY and Roberta (Jesse) Blythe of Russellville, KY; 13 grandchildren; 18 great-grandchildren; and 1 great-great-granddaughter.
Era is preceded in death by her husband, Thurman Carver, two sons, Thurman Michael Carver and Jerry Lee Carver; her parents, Annie and Spurgeon Clardy; sisters, Pauline Basham and Kathleen Mewbuorn; and brothers, William, Ray and Carlyle Clardy.
Funeral services will be held 11AM on Wednesday, November 30, 2011 at Browning Funeral Home, 738 Diamond Avenue, Evansville with Pastor Tim Bauersachs officiating. Graveside services will be held 2:30 PM at Macedonia Baptist Church Cemetery in Rosewood, KY.
Friends may visit from 4-8PM, Tuesday, at Browning Funeral Home, 738 Diamond Avenue, Evansville, and again from 9:30-11AM, Wednesday at the funeral home.
