Frances A. (Caruso) Asci, of Swampscott formerly of Medford, died Monday in Salem after a long battle with Scleroderma, a disease affecting the skin and tissue. She was 86. Frances was born and raised in Medford, one of eleven children born to the late Nicola and the late Carmella (Candelieri) Caruso. Beloved wife of Robert S. Asci, with whom she shared 61 years of marriage, together they raised their family in Medford and for the past 14 years they resided in Swampscott. In earlier years Frances worked as a Legal Secretary in Medford. She was a faithful and spiritual woman and with her husband, actively involved in St. Clement parish and the religious education program. Family was foremost in her life and she enjoyed the company of her children and grandchildren. She also enjoyed crossword puzzles and crocheting afghans. Frances was one of the longest known patients to survive with Scleroderma. As an active member of the Scleroderma Foundation of New England, she helped others suffering with the disease by counseling and advocating on their behalf. She is survived by her beloved husband Robert S. Asci, her children, grandchildren, and nieces and nephews.
