Jesse Lee Cannon was born September 7, 1931 in Nashville, Tennessee to Truman and Maggie Cartwright Cannon. He died on July 18, 2007 in Lawton, Oklahoma at the age of 75 years, 10 months and 11 days. A funeral service will be held at 10 AM on Monday, July 23, 2007 at the Whinery-Huddleston Chapel with Chaplain Major James W. Blount, officiating. Interment will follow at Sunset Memorial Gardens with full Military Honors.

Mr. Cannon was raised and graduated from high school in Tennessee. He joined the Army after graduation and spent 30 years serving his country, including wartime duty in Korea and Viet Nam. He met Hildegard Reuel while he was stationed in Germany and they were married in Switzerland on November 4, 1960. Jesse retired from the military in 1980 as a Master Sergeant.

After his retirement, Jesse chose to continue working, and was employed at Lawton Public Schools, Goodyear, and most recently at Enterprise Car Rental. He was a dedicated and loving husband, father and grandfather. He remained patriotic through out his life, and will be remembered by his family, friends and neighbors as an honorable and devoted family man and soldier. He was preceded in death by his parents, two brothers, Truman and Harold, and sister-in-law Betty Griffin.

Survivors include his wife of 47 years, Hildegard; daughter, Ramona and husband Major Dudley Brownell III, US Army, of Maryland; son, TSgt Jerome Cannon, US Air Force, of Lawton; granddaughters Jennifer and Samantha Cannon of Lawton; great grandson, Joshua of Lawton; brothers, Franklin Cannon, Willie Cannon and wife Mattie; sisters, Lillie Belle Malone, and Mary Ann Henderson, all of Tennessee; sister-in-law, Sybilla Johnson and husband Clayton, Lawton; brother-in-law Garfield Griffin of Lawton; numerous nieces and nephews; his best friend Lawrence Wilson and close family friend Margarit Edkins and family, all of Lawton.
