Mary was the fourth known daughter born to John Cartmell and his wife, Christina Fry. Mary married David Bookless; one of at least six children born to David W. Bookless and his wife, Miss ? Perry. Mary and David celebrated their wedding on April 15, 1828 in Coschocton County, Ohio. She and David had six children. Mary died in childbirth and infant was stillborn. Mother and child were buried in same coffin.
